Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic Dentistry Designed by Dr. Solomon
Cosmetic dentistry deals with the look and appearance of your smile and teeth. Patients opt for cosmetic dental procedures for many reasons; they could have suffered an injury to the mouth that caused teeth to break, or they could have teeth that developed crooked or with gaps. No matter what the reason, a bright smile is often the goal, and our cosmetic dentistry treatments can help achieve it.
Why get cosmetic dental treatments?
If you’re self conscious about your smile, have broken or damaged teeth, or want a corrected bite, cosmetic dental treatments may be for you. Some benefits of cosmetic dentistry include:
- Remove gaps between teeth
- Whiten discolored or stained teeth
- Repair decayed, chipped, broken or cracked teeth
- Reposition crowded or crooked teeth
- Lengthen or shorten uneven teeth and gums
- Replace missing teeth
- Replace metal fillings
- Improve or correct bites
A cosmetic dental treatment can completely change your outlook and improve your confidence. It can also be hugely beneficial for your oral health – for instance, a proper bite and the presence of all your teeth can make chewing and digestion much easier.
Smile Makeover
A smile makeover can completely alter the lives of patients with a physical and emotional transformation. There is no singular treatment, however; a number of procedures can be done to change your smile. They include:
- Porcelain veneers, which are placed over the teeth’s front surface to change their shape, size, length, or color. These are most commonly used to cover stained or damaged teeth.
- Crowns, which are caps that cover the entirety of the tooth and restore its original shape, size, and appearance. Crowns are good for holding in fillings or keeping dental bridges in place.
- Implants, which are used to replace missing teeth without altering any other teeth in the mouth. They are popular choices for teeth that have been lost or removed.
- Bridges, which is a fixture that allows a gap to be filled by using adjacent teeth as anchors.
- Fillings, which help repair chipped or worn teeth. White fillings, not silver fillings, are used because they lack mercury, are less sensitive, and have a more natural appearance.
In addition to the cosmetic benefits, many of these procedures also increase support and strengthen the structure of your mouth. When all of your teeth are present and straight, it makes chewing easier. It also prevents bits of food from easily slipping into crevices and cavities, thus reducing the likelihood of bacterial buildup.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
For patients who have had multiple teeth damaged or removed, a full mouth reconstruction may be a favorable option. This can include dental implants, orthodontics, bone grafting, crown lengthening, and more.
A full mouth reconstruction may be recommended if a patient has had a number of dental complications or if numerous teeth have decayed over time. It may be more prudent to remove the remaining teeth to allow a uniform bridge or set of implants to be inserted.
Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a technique using clear aligners to help straighten teeth without the use of braces. They are easily removed so users can floss, brush, and eat as normal. During visits, dentists can also quickly take the aligners out so they can be properly cleaned.
After scanning your mandibles, Dr. Solomon sends the information to a bite specialist at Invisalign®. Multiple molds are crafted to be used at various stages of the process, from the initial placing to the end. This allows the teeth to slowly move into alignment over a period of time. Aligners are generally changed every 10-12 days.
Often, Invisalign® is proposed as the second phase of TMJ treatment after an oral orthotic has been used. Invisalign® can further help straighten teeth and get them into their ideal positions.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a non-invasive procedure to restore the color of your teeth. The enamel on your teeth can get stained or discolored over time due to age, medication, tobacco, certain beverages, and more. We offer two options for teeth whitening: in-office or at-home.
Our in-office teeth whitening procedure is carried out with the ZOOM system. A special gel is applied to the teeth, and a light is then applied to the gel to cause it to penetrate the enamel. Appointments last one hour, and we provide music or television to help pass the time.
Our at-home teeth whitening system involves the use of clear plastic trays. During the first appointment, we take impressions of your teeth to customize the trays. The proper fitting occurs during the second appointment, at which point the trays will be filled with special whitening solution. The trays are worn for 30 minutes each day for 7 days so that your teeth can gradually whiten over time.
